MKO Abiola

On July 11, 1998, an imam prayed over Abiola’s wrapped body after it was delivered to his home following an autopsy conducted by an international team of pathologists. Abiola had died suddenly on July 7, reportedly from a heart attack, on the eve of his anticipated release after spending four years in detention following his victory in the 1993 presidential election.
